The only bourbon barrel smoked paprika. Made from peppers grown in New Mexico. This mellow paprika has sweet, piquant, and aromatic notes with hints of smoked oak. Use to season poultry, fish, veggies, soups, sauces, or marinades.
Bourbon Barrel Foods makes an effort to source as many domestic ingredients as possible. Our paprika comes from Rio Valley, a family-owned farm in Las Cruces, NM, that grows chilis and peppers. They harvest, wash, and sort all the peppers by hand, and then place them on long, wooden trays. The trays are stacked and the peppers are dried in a gas-fired dehydration oven, then crushed in a mill. At every step of the process, they match our commitment to quality—which takes a lot of dedication when you grow and process 12 million pounds of peppers every year. It feels good to know we’re working with people who share our passion.
We slow-smoke our spices in small batches using industrial smokers big enough to handle up to 1400 lbs of pork butt. Trays of spices are slow-smoked using staves from oak bourbon barrels that once held some of Kentucky’s finest bourbon. Our process gives our Bourbon Smoked Paprika a unique, smoky flavor that’s just as vibrant as its color.
